The development of the Smith & Wesson Model 3 revolver began in the 1860s in an effort to develop a .44 Caliber revolver to be used by the United States Military. The Smith & Wesson finally finished the design of a top break revolver in 1869. This revolver was patented first in England May 17, 1869 No. 1510 by Smith & Wesson's agent Mr. Lake and then in the United Sates on August 24, 1869 patent number 94003 by Charles A. King plant superintendent Smith & Wesson Arms Co. The Model 3 finally went into production in late 1869 with the first shipments beginning in 1870. We Hope that this helps. Roy G. Hello, on your website, read as follows
https://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/ ... onId=10002 The partners realized that when their patents expired they would need a new design to maintain their market superiority. The new design was completed in 1869 and the company began marketing it in 1870. The Model 3 American, as it became known in the United States, was the first large caliber cartridge revolver and established Smith & Wesson as a world leader in handgun manufacturing. The two most important customers for the new revolver were the United States Cavalry, which purchased 1,000 units for use on the Western Frontier, and the Russian Imperial Government.
I need to prove that indeed the revolver S&W Model 3 was designed before 1 January 1870.
Could you provide me some documentation or certificate for it?.
That I would send them to this email.
Thank you very much for your kindness.
